3. Social Media Calendar

You can log in and manage their accounts without waiting for their approval to become an admin. You can also still use your own brand name and logo when inviting them.

You can use extensions for Chrome, Firefox as well as Safari to share posts from your Facebook newsfeed and Twitter timeline. In general, this feature is a well-integrated functionality allowing you to schedule content you have discovered to be published at a later time.

11. URL Shortening

To make your content even more social media and user-friendly, SocialPilot allows you to shorten your URLs using integrations like Sniply, Rebrandly, and Bitly. You connect one of them to your SocialPilot account and the integration will automatically shorten all your URLs. You can also connect all of them and set one as default.


12. Native Mobile Apps

SocialPilot also offers an app developed for Android as well as iOS devices which is great for when you are on the go. You can pretty much do all of the scheduling and managing of posts for the various accounts on the app.

The App is also useful to act as a go-between between Instagram and SocialPilot.

Although the posting to Instagram feature is under development, at the time of writing of this article (September 2019), there is currently no direct posting to Instagram from SocialPilot.

13. Image, GIF, Video Uploads and Canva

The service supports various formats to be added to the various calendars and accounts.

  • Images can be uploaded directly, linked via a URL, or uploaded from Dropbox
  • Videos can be uploaded direct (besides linked to from YouTube or other video streaming services as a URL)
  • GIFs can be added directly from Giphy into your posts
  • Designed with Canva – you can click the button which starts Canva and then imports the completed design directly into SocialPilot

14. Social Inbox

The Social Inbox is a feature available in the two higher tiers (Small Teams and Agency).

The Inbox essentially brings all the conversations from your various Facebook pages into one screen, preventing you from having to juggle between all of the different pages you manage to respond to messages in various pages.

You can then have a clear and easy view of messages and comments made on your posts so you can respond to engagement and messages more efficiently.

So far, this feature is available only for Facebook, but we would expect this feature to be rolled out to other SMM accounts in time.

Of course, once you have created and curated all of the media and publishing schedules, Social Pilot will follow the calendar you have defined and automatically publish the content on the various channels.

At any time, you can check the queue for the various account, so that you can see what’s in the content calendar for the specific channel.

User Experience / Ease of Use


The SocialPilot dashboard is very simple and well-structured. It does not include any unnecessary UI distractions and has been clearly designed to give you easy visibility to the most important features and metrics.

From the dashboard you can:

  • easily access each account with a single click from one place.
  • clearly see the posting history for each of your accounts.
  • get an overview of your posted content through daily usage charts.

Moreover, as both the dashboard and the content calendar are accessible to the admin, the team members, and also to the client (if enabled), who can all make their contributions too, it makes it a perfect platform for content collaboration.

Setting Post Schedules

The very first thing you do when you connect an account is to define a posting schedule. The tool gives pre-populates the schedule times based on their recommended times (for highest reach and engagement).

You can then update the schedule to your own requirements, removing specific post times, or changing as necessary.

Once the schedule has been defined, the post creation layout contains all necessary functions and is comparable to the Facebook Business Manager. You are able to share posts immediately, add them to the queue, repeat certain posts, share posts next, or schedule them for later.

The page also shows you the maximum number you are able to post per day (according to your prepaid plan option) and how many out of that you have already posted that day.

Find Shareable Content

Content curation is one of the features that make SocialPilot unique, although when it comes to content curation (ONLY) per se, it might not be one of the best options available out there.

It is definitely a time-saver and a big help when looking for content. By typing your keywords in the search bar, you get content sorted by the time published and by its relevance.

For example, you can then specifically search “digital marketing” articles published in the last week. Of course, you can alter the criteria to the needs of your accounts and / or clients.

The built-in analytics and reporting feature included in SocialPilot is available for five different channels:

  1. Twitter,
  2. Facebook,

  4. LinkedIn, and
  5. Google My Business.

As it supports the analytics tools built-in Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, you still get the platform-specific data while being able to access them all from one place.

The tool provides you with a general overview of your results including Total Likes, Total Reach, Post Engagement, Page Clicks, Total Fans, and Posts Published including growth in percentage over different periods.

You also get data about Audience Growth, Audience Engagement, Active Fans, and Audience Demographics including the times and days they are most active, Post Performance overview including most active commenters, likers and sharers, and popular hashtags.

In terms of the reporting, one feature we did not like is that reporting is done on a channel by channel basis. This means, that you are able to see the data of one social media platform at a time, and would need to scroll through multiple platforms to see how each platform is doing.

Even if you wanted to send such a report of how ALL of their digital marketing is doing, you’ll have to somehow collate the various reports into one, something which the tool is not capable of.

Support and Documentation

To get in touch with the SocialPilot tech support team, you can submit a request for assistance via their website. You are offered priority support and onboarding assistance when you get started with SocialPilot if you are subscribed to the ‘Enterprise’ plan.

You do have access to a support package even when subscribed to one of the three main plans.

Also, a contextual help feature is built-in to each screen.

You can simply access it from any screen in the tool by clicking on the small grey question mark icon in the top right corner. It takes you to a support site that explains the feature and even shows you step by step how to use or access it or use it.

As for the rest, you get regular assistance For the few queries we had, support was very responsive answering and resolving the “problem” which wasn’t really a problem, but a request, in a few minutes.

The whole manual is divided into many sections and covers many possible problems you might encounter when using the tool. The screenshot below shows all the possible support options available when clicking on the icon from the Connect Account section.


To extend the functionality and make the tool even more tailored to your personal needs, you can integrate with third-parties, such as Zapier,, Rebrandly, Canva, Bitly, Dropbox, or Feedly.

Zapier can be used for pretty much automating anything, but it’s great to know that you can extend support to most other 3rd party apps through Zapier.

We’ve also seen how the tool integrates with URL shorteners mentioned above to “prettify” and shorten URLs.

Canva is directly integrated with the posting process, you can literally use Canva from within the tool.



As an agency, while the social media scheduling a planner is a great feature you’ll want to offer your client, you might not be inclined to share the actual provider of the tool (in this case Social Pilot), because the client might opt to try and do it all on their own (losing you a client in the process).

With the white-label feature, you can use the tool to provide all of the services that we’ve discussed in this post but in a way that looks like it’s your own company that is providing the full service.

This includes even the app’s URL and domain, you can use your own domain on which the tool will live, and then you can use these URLs to share with your clients.

PROs (What we liked)

  • Client access – you can invite the clients to contribute their own content.

  • Responsive product team – they listen to their users and update the tool frequently.
  • Complimentary apps for Android / iOS together with browser extensions.
  • Several 3rd party integrations.


CONs (What we did not like)

  • Post to Instagram directly from the tool is missing; you are only able to schedule posts and get notifications.
  • Posting videos as part of the bulk import is not possible, though this might be a technical limitation.
  • The trial version is not available in some countries.
  • Reports and Analytics lacks depth, could use additional detail and potentially, reporting across social media channels.
  • Content suggested by the content curation feature can be irrelevant at times.


How is SocialPilot different than other social media tools?

As social media has become increasingly popular, the need for social media management tools has also risen. It has become very hard for such tools to stand out amongst all of the services available and even harder to single out a particularly good one for the users.

It has become a bit of a commodity really, where differences in features are few and far between. It’s mostly the UX that differs, and what makes or breaks the conversion from trial to paid is how much you actually “hit it off” with the tool.

For SocialPilot, the feature that makes it stand out would definitely have to be its pricing, which we will discuss in more detail below.

While for many, it is not the most important thing (and shouldn’t be), for smaller agencies or professional individuals it might be a deal-breaker.

In any case, it is always nice to see how affordable SocialPilot is compared to some of their competitors whilst still providing almost identical – if not that, then surely more than sufficient – service.

Apart from being budget-friendly, it is very easy to use and offers a fairly intuitive navigation while still being quite a complex and advanced professional tool.

It has some features that are hard to find with other providers. Their bulk scheduling and repeated posting feature, content curation feature, and scheduling other feeds’ posts for your accounts are the ones that stand out.

If you are just starting out, there is the option to try the Individual Plan first. For $8.33/month it allows you to manage up to five accounts, publish 50 posts, and discover curated content. On the flip side, you can also get a custom plan with limits increased over any published limits with the Enterprise/‘White Label’ setup.

The cheapest pricing option, with a reasonable limit, is the ‘Professional’ plan priced at $25/mo allowing you to manage 25 of your social media accounts and post up to 200 posts per day.

At literally a $1/month per account, we find this price more than reasonable.

Being the cheapest option, this plan does not support the features of Social Inbox, Client Management, and the Concierge Setup.

The most popular option is the ‘Small Team’ plan priced at 41.66$/mo with 50 social media accounts available for you to connect, 500 posts per day, and Concierge Setup as the only one feature not available.

Again, this works out at roughly $1/month per account.

The option with the most capacity is the ‘Agency’ Plan priced at 83.33/mo with the option to connect up to 100 accounts and post 1000 posts per day. All the features are available with this plan.

For the two smaller allowances and lower price, Hootsuite is slightly cheaper while SocialPilot’s limits for connected accounts is definitely higher. As the difference in price is for these two plans almost not noticeable, SocialPilot comes out as a better option.

The Business (Hootsuite) and Agency (SocialPilot) plans are different in both the number of accounts allowed and price. SocialPilot is $37 cheaper while allowing you to connect up to 100 accounts in comparison with Hootsuite’s 35 accounts allowed.

Both platforms have the space to improve with their integrations feature. While you are able to integrate with YouTube when using Hootsuite, it does not have a native integration with Pinterest, which forces you to use a third-party app like Tailwind. SocialPilot, on the other hand, needs help from Zapier when integrating with YouTube.

Hootsuite might generally be a better option for agencies and businesses as it has more professional features like social campaign template or social media certification.
